it´s TINY HEART NECKLACE TIME again

those dashing valentines are my great-grandparents
(yes, she´s somehow holding up a fox fur stole)
they worked in a bookbinding shop
and climbed the Zugspitze wearing Lederhosen and a dirndl
later on her little bunches of garden flowers
became quite popular on the farmers market
.
i never met her, but i´m named after her
.
he told us the most exciting stories
about getting out of your nailed shoes on the Alps
when a storm comes up and hide them under a stone
so you wouldn´t get struck by lightning
.
and he taught us how to do ski gymnastics
way up to his nineties
neither of us has skied til now... we´re a quite disapointing bunch

we gathered all twigs and leaves dear to her from her garden

her beloved Virginia Creeper berries and her carefully treated olive and yew tree

to be with her at her good bye

now i take care of her italian olive tree

and we put a picture of a wreath made of its leaves on her memorial card

a cookie recipe she made on her last day

and paper withes

i got the bulbs - along with a hundred of other kinds - when everything happend

they started to bloom on her stormy funeral

i still can hear the hunting horns bid their farewell

she has left us

on a very stormy Wednesday noon

we held her hand and said our goodbyes

she never was alone in this week of her farewell

E sang to her for hours and hours

we are so very sad to have lost her

but she spread her love for dance and music wide

and her way of following her heart affections and dreams

of pursuing the things she loved at any age and any circumstance

staying interested in so many things and people

and keeping an independed and strong mind

of living love in her own way

hopefully lives on in all of us

my grandmother had a massive stroke

she´s going to leave us in the next days

we´re hoping she can go easily and peaceful

and an everlasting barn dance in full swing is waiting for her

i lived in her house for the last 5 months

feeling like i´m the elderly lady and she´s 28 years old

this busy she has been

the plans for her Wednesday would have been

teaching dulcimer class, baking for St. Nikolaus

and playing the hunting horn

at princess Gloria of Thurn und Taxis´Christmas market

followed by leading a dance class for elderly persons

and attending a folk music meeting

in the next couple of days

happy halloween everybody

forced W to go hunting with me

for lovely coloured twigs and berries in the park

so i could make a seasonal arrangement

actually i wanted to include some spooky bones

but the only ones i found in our garden

were tiny relicts from our bunnies

(now the hole thing has to stay outside

due to the ever so sticking goldenrod seeds)

also i added my creepy feet in traditional oberpfälzer stockings

and a new BOOK with bones on it

has someting to do with work stuff, foggy suburbs and a bit of back pain

almost killed a plant by drying it out completly

and i thought i´m more the root rotting kind

but my basil cuttings thrive pretty and bloom

didn´t know that this was possible with perennial plants

until RENILDE told me

and to fight off the fog and cold

i´m wearing my MUKU (have a look at their adorable childrens clothes) scarf today

this was the last time i didn´t swap sunflower oil for melted butter

when baking a cake

i really don´t like the taste

but the cream cheese peanut butter frosting to go with it is AMAZING

some days start off foggy

the first strawberries of the season

my first copy got washed away by the North Sea
dear Eva took it to the beach and the tide came quicker than expected
a rather romantic death for a book
since there are 8 weeks till the next meeting igot a lot of preparation time
planing on reading it in English and German
watching the MOVIE
and maybe starting A Room With A View again
(currently i just got a very poor German translation which is not worth reading)
oh, and i´d love to wear this ANNA ALLEN DRESS while doing so

my new pair of JEANS kept me from more severe abrasion
when two dogs out of nowhere jumped into the front wheel of my bike
i literally had no chance
bruised knees and ribs
so you dog owners who don´t keep their dogs on a leash in public places
this is NOT fun
those puppies do not "just want to play" - they cause real damage
very unnecessary and easily avertable
.

haven´t done any since i left art school
actually not since the first year of art school
some how while studying i kind of lost it
which is weird - trying so hard to be creative

i´m planning on joining an English reading book club
to spruce up my English talking skills
first up: The other hand/Little Bee
well, i did not like that one
it´s hard to explain
i certainly felt the "fearsome grip"
but also it felt to me like human pain was exploited to create "a feat of literary engineering"
and why is it advertised like that?
"We don´t want to tell you what happens in this book."
to get readers to buy it who usually don´t read books on this uncomfortable matter
so they would try to make some change by feeling ashamed of their not knowing
somehow i missed at least a little glimpse of what we could do to make a bit of a difference
but very likely in reality we can´t
just change our minds
.
have you read it too?
maybe i get new insights from your thoughts on it and the book club meeting

it´s so amazing, you really can trust every praise you find on the web

i always loved the drop shape of W´s bracelet from the 1980
made of silver and tombac
so i wanted to create something based on his design
but with a less static feel about it
so we kind of cut it into tiny slices
10 bracelets instead of one
always moving on your wrist
a very geometric form constantly disolving
and creating new shapes with every motion

on the Easter weekend i finally got to read The Gentlewoman
a great magazine
almost felt a bit intimidated by all these successful women

and i took lot of pictures for the upcoming shop update
the sun was shining a lot so there was quite a bit of SHADOW play, too

currently i´m working on the SILHOUETTE CHARM orders for Mothers Day
there´s still a tiny bit of time to order yours for this occasion

there´s an other one - a blondie - but i had to cut her out of the picture

K takes so great pictures of her fieldwork

tiny HORSE looks kind of afraid and on the run next to the Highland cattle

i used AT SWIM TWO BIRDS tutorial to make this potholder
i admit it was a kind of nerve-racking procedure
but i´m working on the next one already
make sure to have a look at hers - she´s such an inspiration
for outstanding handcraft

i´ve got an heavy Bavarian accent when it comes to speaking English
so i´m quite happy you can´t hear me saying out loud
what i´m typing here on my blog

i´m living with my parents right now
but i´m planing on moving out – again – sometimes soon

i love the internet, especially the blog world
next to books and magazines it´s my daily source
for amazing things I would never have found out about

i always wanted to wear glasses
but i´m still blessed with perfect eye sight…
once upon a time W had mercy with me
and made me some of modeling clay
now i´m wearing sunglasses every day

i´m a bit obsessed with food and eating
most of my cookbooks have to hide in boxes
since there simply is not enough space
(it´s the same with kitchen supplies)
i started collecting recipe clippings right after i learned to read
and of course now i spend a great amount of time browsing food blogs

i´m a collector/hoarder of all things nice and shiny
scarfs, vintage dinnerware and glass beads, books, nailpolish, shoes, skirts
(actually clothes in general)
orchids are a quite new obsession now
.
i adore my physiotherapists
their constant help kept me sane these last two years of back pain
it´s amazing to be able to help peolpe this much
.
